Meet Dr. Weatherby
Dr. Cole Weatherby joined the Austin Aerospace medical team in 2020. He is now a Senior HIMS AME capable of helping you with any aviation-related medical need you might have. He is an instrument rated private pilot who is passionate about aviation and aviation safety. He is also a board-certified psychiatrist and has a private practice in Austin that specializes in aerospace psychiatry and holistic/integrative mental health care.
Working with the FAA on certification issues can be a stressful, nerve wracking, and expensive process. Dr. Weatherby understands this from his own experiences as a pilot and as a physician. He is dedicated to making this process as painless as possible for you and providing you with reliable expertise and support.
Dr. Weatherby has developed experience and a keen interest in assisting pilots with a history of complex physical health and mental health issues with the certification process. He is available for HIMS and non-HIMS AME consultation at Austin Aerospace and provides highly detailed aerospace psychiatric evaluations in his private practice. Dr. Weatherby received his D.O. degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center - TCOM in 2008 and completed residency in general psychiatry in 2012. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Since 2012, Dr. Weatherby has been the owner/director of Moontower Mental Wellness, PLLC, a practice specializing in aerospace psychiatric evaluations, integrative psychiatry, brain health and third wave psychotherapies (mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and others). He has also served as the medical director for Sage Recovery and Wellness Center which provides intensive outpatient and residential treatment for adults and adolescents with mental illness and addiction issues. Dr. Weatherby is active in teaching and mentoring residents at the Dell Medical School Psychiatry Residency.
